THE MANUAL WOODWORK:

PALO A PIQUE TECHNIQUE:

The most rustic technique utilized for construction was called “Palo a pique” (Vaguely translated as “vertical sticks”) and consisted on burying logs vertically one after the other.

This was used for more precarious houses and fences. To nail and adjust them, they utilized handmade dowels, and to prevent the deterioration of the poles, they burnt the part that would be buried.

BLOCK HOUSE TECHNIQUE:

This technique consisted in logs, hand sawn in at least three faces; that were placed horizontally fitting with each other. This method was utilized for the most important houses and buildings.

HACHUELA TECHNIQUE:

This decorative technique was realized manually with a special hatchet called “hachuela”. This tool was used on the sides of the wood, carving a particular texture.
