HISTORIC CIRCUIT - 4th STOP

MAGISTRATE´S COURT

This is one of the buildings realized by the National Parks association to establish public institutions.

It was built in 1938 and the difference in style of the stone work can be observed; since it´s not as precise as the ones made by National Parks with the workers that it contracted at the beginning.

In 1934, begins a new stage for the town with the creation of the National Parks.

This parks have their origin in the creation of the “National Park of the South” in 1920 that has 3 leagues of territory donated by the Proficient Francisco Pascasio Moreno in 1903.

The man that propelled the creation of this NP was Exequiel Bustillo who had a summer house in the area, today known as Cumelén, and was part of the National Park of the South´s committee.

Achieving this objective was no easy task, according to Bustillo himself in his book “Bariloche´s Awakening”.  It took many letters and meetings with members of the government of the time in order to convince the legislation of the importance of it´s creation; in this land forgotten by the Nation.

That´s how in September 29th of 1934, in the last session of the Congress of that year; the approval of the Law N° 22.351 was archived. An anecdote pictures the tenacity and conviction of the ones that backed the idea. Says Bustillo that at the moment of voting for the law, because they had just enough people  he didn’t hesitate to stop deputy Vega, Tucuman´s representative, from going to the bathroom. If not for all that, the Law would have been filed and who knows when it would be treated again.
