THE ROAD OF THE VOLCANO - 5th STOP

GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CVPCC:

This complex is the largest volcanic field of the Maule´s region and the second biggest geothermic field of the South Andes. Chile has more than 2.000 volcanoes, from which only 125 are considered active and only 60 have been registered as having eruptive activity in the last 450 years. When this happens, all the mountain range is shaken and has generated cataclysms since millons of years; ever sincethe Pangaea separeted and started “navigating” over the magmatic mantle, dividing from Africa and Europe, moving progressively to Asia.
